(More customer reviews)I purchased this along with a set of four side window air deflectors. The sunroof deflector is much more effective in diverting wind and cutting down noise than the metal deflector that pops up when the sunroof is opened that was installed by the manufacturer. When that pops up, because it is perforated, it creates a lot of wind noise.
The WeatherTech deflector does not replace the factory pop-up deflector, but goes over it so that the wind never hits the factory deflector. It is smoothly curved and has a rubber gasket that seals against the roof of the vehicle (mine is an '06 Avalanche) so that wind and water do not get underneath it.
The installation is not easy for one person to do, but is possible. The deflector is held to the vehicle by a metal clip on each end that clips to the bottom edge of the sunroof opening and is attached with a screw that goes thru a pre-drilled hole in the deflector from the top into the clip. It is a tight connection that necessitates holding the clip in place with one hand while reaching through the open sunroof, and screwing in the screw with a screwdriver in the other hand. My vehicle is tall, so I was standing on a ladder to do this. As I said, it would be much easier with someone else in the car holding the clip in place.
The deflector is nice looking and makes driving with the sunroof open much more enjoyable. The wind noise and buffeting is cut way down and it allows air circulation without feeling like you are in a wind tunnel.
