Some light and moisture can come through the tarp but it will also dry faster. Read the description so it can be used properly, such as blocking the sun. Since it is heavy duty, its heavier than a standard tarp too. This tarp is very nice and heavy duty, but since its mesh, it has a specific purpose.

I built a pergola that didn't provide enough shade in my full sun Southern exposure. I installed screw eyes. With plastic UV cable fasteners, I secured the grommets to the pergola surely to withstand our full wind exposure. While 10 x 16 is exactly what I needed, I was surprised to see in the catalog that arrived with the shade cloth that many sizes are available.
