(More customer reviews)I ride a lot, I wear out equipment at an alarming rate and my short, fall and spring coat had broken three zippers, the velcro wore out and it would cost more to repair than the old coat was worth ... so I went shopping.
There are a lot of choices out there now, but many look as if they are refugees from a bubble gum machine. Nothing wrong with them, brite colors, good fabric, armor out the yang. But - I was tired of that and have been riding more antiques at a slower rate of speed for a few years and thought back to the very first moto jackets I wore almost fifty years ago.
Denim - that the was the target and this Cortech DSX had all the bits and pieces I thought I needed. It turns out it is much more of a riding coat than I thought! The armor is nice, the Denim fabric was given a 3M water repellent spray before I rode and the big surprise ... it was a lot warmer than I thought it would be. I removed the zip in lining and rode with a fleece sweater until the middle of November while on a tour up in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. No leaks, the cuffs fit tight enough for a light pair of gauntlets to slide over and the napoleon pocket was perfect for my wallet. With the liner replaced, it was good for the low thirties at about 70 miles per hour. I needed a neck gaiter at that speed - but then I usually use a gaiter of some form or another.
The Jacket works, the price is right, the look is definitely old school, or maybe tomorrows new school, it just might be ahead of the trend. Don't know - but I like it.
